This book comes from the angle that, no matter the law, the fundamental rights of women should not be infringed upon by others, except by consent. It is an age when many women start to look at men and think about, talk about, or engage in sexually active behavior. For the first time, I can now clearly see that my daughter will only have access to half the liberties I did. Choices are made for her by people who aren't her or her parents. Things that I took for granted while growing up, helped me develop a new perspective on the world. I see a regression to a time when abortions were done in dark alleys and illegal offices when they were carried out by inexperienced or uneducated individuals, and as such, they often resulted in fatalities or various complications. Women who managed to survive led their lives scarred, traumatized, and with a sense of shame and guilt.
